PARIS 1998

We left London on April 14 th, traveled under the English Channel via EuroStar--reaching 185 MPH on French soil and arrived safely in Paris. For the next few days, we toured Paris and Versailles leaving from the Charles DeGaulle airport on April 19th. What a great trip--but we would be back! In fact, Carol and I were back in Paris the summer of 2001 and this time we would tour all of France--from Paris, Normandy, Limoges, Orange, on down to sea towns along the Mediterranean as we stayed a while in Niece and Monte Carlo.

I hope you enjoy the following photos.

Just arrived at the Train Terminal in Paris--waiting for two taxi's to take us to our hotel.

Arc d' Triomph

Dinner cruise on Seine River. This was a very talented musician!

Jim & Suzy Price on dinner cruise.

Carol and I.

Courtyard overlooking the Eiffel Tower. Please note, there are 625 days before Y2K--a neat countdown!

Eiffel Tower has massive amounts of steel bolted together and has been well preserved all these years.

This is one of my better photos of the tower.

Ditto

Taken from the dinner cruise on the Seine.

The wheel house--the gears and pulleys that operate the elevators.

Courtyard from the top.

Paris from top.

Seine River from top of Eiffel Tower.

Carol inside the glass enclosed top of Eiffel Tower.

Antenna on the very top of the tower. This is a pretty interesting place to be on a windy day.

Carol in our hotel--Burgandy.

Here we are in the lobby of Hotel Burgandy in Paris--ready to go on our dinner cruise on the Seine River.

Notre Dame from the Seine.

Ditto

Inside the Paris Opera House.

Outside the Paris Opera House.

Carol and Suzy in the Paris Opera House.

Carol and Suzy where some of the finest chocolate and hot chocolate is served in Paris. We had just toured Versailles and our bus driver--who spoke five languages--suggested we stop here for some of the best. He was not wrong. I gained five pounds just browsing!

Antique "merry-go-round" in Paris.

LaFayette is the first department store in Europe!

Paris Hard Rock Cafe.

Hotel Burgundy

Tutz in our hotel room.

Paris Metro.

Here we are in Metro.

Interesting story. All around Paris there are those considered whose main career is to "pick pocket" tourists. These "gypsies" usually make if a family affair. Here we are just outside the Notre Dame when a tourist caught such a person in the act. Before the gypsy could blend into the crowd, Paris' finest were called here the female of the group is handcuffed and taken to jail.

Ritz where Lady Di stayed.

The Sacre Coeur sits on hill overlooking Paris.

River Cruise map.

Seine River Cruise Map--points of interest.

Here we are entering the world renowed museum "The Louvre".

The Mona Lisa

Ditto

The Louvre from outside.

Venus DeMilo in The Louvre

Winged Victory in The Louvre

Carol and I in The Louvre

What I call "tunnel of death". Our Cabbie is pointing out the exact spot Lady Di was killed in the car accident.

A very happy Tutz from a successful shopping day in Paris.

Too much shopping can make a very tiring day.

Outside Versailles

Beautiful art on the walls and ceilings of Versailles

Versailles Main Hall

Versailles Main Fountain

Even at Versailles there are micro cars.

One of many statutes at Versailles

Beautiful Wall Tapestry in Versailles

Main Entrance of Versailles on a raining day
